Evaluation & education

NAD+: important biology, unsettled evidence.

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every living cell. Its role in cellular biology is well established. The evidence for administering a particular NAD+ product by a particular route is a separate—and much less settled—question.

What NAD+ does in the body

NAD+ participates in energy metabolism and in enzymes involved in DNA repair and cell signaling. Levels have been observed to change with age in some studies.

What the biology does not prove

A molecule's role inside cells does not establish that supplementing it improves energy, cognition, recovery or lifespan. Human studies of NAD+ and its precursors are relatively small and short, with mixed results.

Evidence for injected or infused NAD+ is especially limited. Safety and benefit depend on formulation and route.

How Level Health approaches it

This page is educational. A clinical evaluation pathway for NAD+ is not currently confirmed. If one becomes available, it will be described here with its actual eligibility and limitations.
